Wow, another wet and windy book club night!  Thanks to everyone who made it out in the storm.  We missed you Ashley, Christiana, and Ross! I hope we can catch up soon. We still had a lot of good books to talk about, and a lot of trades. Here they are:

I got to read a bunch this month. I enjoyed reading Shana’s thriller from last month, The Last House Guest by Meghan Miranda, as well as another B.A. Paris thriller Bring Me Back that Shana is borrowing. I loved the advanced reader copy of The Burning by Laura Bates and I can’t wait to hear what Mariya thinks of it next time. I also really enjoyed Frederik Backman’s My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry, and Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson that Ruthann is reading for next time.  And, even though it was an audio book, I can’t wait for Matt to check out the awesome short stories by Ted Chiang, Exhalation.

Hugh read a crime novel by David Swinson, Crime Song.  The high functioning drug addict detective character had me interested.

Shana read my pick from last month, The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena, that Mariya is borrowing, and Ruth Ware’s The Lying Game.

Mariya liked one of mine from last month, The Break Down by B.A. Paris; Shana is borrowing. She also read one from the top of her to be read list, The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. I can’t wait to start that one.

Matt read Mr. Monk Goes to Hawaii by Lee Goldberg.  Who knew there were Monk books?!  I’m reading that one this month. He also went back to his serial killer interests with Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit by John Douglas and Mark Olshaker.

Ruthann succumbed to Sing Unburied Sing by Jesmyn Ward. She also read How to Start a Revolution by Lauren Duca that I’m borrowing this month to mix up my streak of thrillers.

It was so much fun as always guys.  I can’t wait to hear everyone’s “second opinions” of their trades next month, as well as all the new stuff we find. Have a great February, and I hope to see everyone again in March!
