I was hoping for at least one more month of courtyard book club, but winter came fast. I miss those warm courtyard evenings already. Thanks for braving the cold windy wet last night to come out. It was great to see everyone!

Christiana had a huge stack of two months worth of books, after her book hangover from The Starless Sea by Erin Morganstern. She read Less by Andrew Sean Greer, Sundown Motel by Simone St. James, and Digital Fortress by Dan Brown. She also loved Tin Man by Sarah Winman. Ross is borrowing it first but I am intrigued. The New York Times described it as “a litterary three-hankie weeper” so prepare yourself. She also read one that has been on my list for a while, Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chobsky. I’m borrowing that one for the month.

I read The Tender Bar: A Memoir by J.R. Moeringer, which I loved and read/listened to Fall On Your Knees by Ann-Marie MacDonald which was very weird. I also read Ashley’s pick Velvet Was the Night by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, and really enjoyed Hugh’s triller from last month, These Toxic Things by Rachel Howzell Hall. Mariya is borrowing it this month.

Hugh read a horror for Halloween, Hear Shaped Box by Joe Hill. He also read my pick, Kindred by Octavia Butler. I hope you enjoy it this month Christiana.

Shana read one of mine from last month, Under the Harrow by Flynn Berry. And, she continued into the many book “trilogy” of Discovery of Witches with Time’s Convert by Deborah Harkenss.

Ashley read my pick from last month, The Lottery by Shirley Jackson and deemed it not scary. Ross couldn’t get past the back cover blurb and sealed it in the freezer for the month for safe keeping.

Ross liked the DTYA I picked out last month, Just Under the Clouds by Melissa Sarno. But, Dean Koontz and I let her down with Life Expectancy.

Matt was courageos to finish Ross’s The Last Victim by Jason Moss. I couldn’t have done it. The Goodreads review was great, we all love a laugh-out-loud book review. He also read The Siren and the Specter by Jonathan Janz.

Mariya read one of Shana’s picks, Incense and Sensibility by Sonali Dev, and is enjoying the first of the Discovery of Witches series.

I’m already looking forward to next month. I hope that you all have a happy Thanksgiving and find some time to relax and enjoy chipping away at your to be read piles. I know my pile needs an intervention. See you in December!
