Thanks again to everyone who came out for another fun night! Welcome to Ruthann joining us for the first time. Sasha and Tracey we missed you, hope to see you next month. Lots of fun books were discussed and passed, so I’ll get right to it.
Shana read my pick from last week, The Death of Mrs. Westaway by Ruth Ware. Ross is borrowing it this month.
Ashley read a YA fantasy Wild Beauty by Anna Marie McLemore that I’ll be reading this month as well as Once Upon A River by Diane Setterfield that she proclaimed was “just ok.”
Ross read Maria and Sasha’s pick, An American Marriage by Tayari Jones. She also enjoyed Ashley’s book from last month, Grief is a Thing with Feathers by Cillian Murphy.
Matt, like Sasha before him, bailed on the notorious 7 1/2 Death’s of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton. Life is too short to read bad books. I guess we will have to wait to suffer through the movie to have more clarity. He also read Susan Cain’s Quiet about the power of introversion. I think we can all relate, and I’m excited to borrow it this month. He also read Going Clear by Lawrence Wright about the history of Scientology. Shana is borrowing it this month.
Maria borrowed Ross’s pick from February, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a %*#@ by Mark Manson. She is still reading it, but finished the famous and “favorite book of all time” according to Ross, Mitch Albom’s The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto. Of course she loved it. Sorry Shana, you’re just missing out. She also read Mercy by Jodie Picolt.
Don Brought in an anthology, The Best Advice I Ever Heard as well as Spook by Mary Roach that Ashley will read this month. He enjoyed Marie Benedict’s follow up to The Other Einstein, The Only Woman In the Room. Shana brought it in last month and Ross will be borrowing it for April.
Ruthann shared a non fiction book she enjoyed about women during World War I, Fruits of Victory by Elaine Weiss.
I read the fantasy/horror Swan Song by Robert McCammon, looking forward to Matt’s opinion next month. After that saga of destruction I had to read something light and silly, One Day in December by Josie Silver and I can’t wait to hear Maria’s take on it next month.
