First Thursday’s Book Club 6/1/23

Last night was a small, cozy book club group. But we had a respectable stack of books to share!

I read Shana’s pick from last month, One Night Gone by Tara Laskowski, The Girl from Widow Hills by Megan Miranda, and The Secret Wife of Aaron Burr by Susan Holloway Scott. I also got a lot out of The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry: How to Stay Emotionally Healthy and Spiritually Alive in the Chaos of the Modern Day World by John Mark Comer. I highly recommend it to everyone. I hope you check it out, Christiana.

Christiana finished The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman, Shana is borrowing it this month. This month she read Sunshine and Snow Peas in Nightingale Square by Heidi Swain and also started the Charlaine Harris series with Dead Until Dark.

Shana read The Other Mrs. by Mark Kubica, The Mother Next Door by Tara Laskowski, and The Deadly Hours anthology.

Hugh read When Ghosts Come Home by Wiley Cash, The Polish Officer by Alan Furst, and Countdown City by Ben H. Winters. He also enjoyed The Book of Accidents by Chuck Wendig. Matt is borrowing it this month.

Matt reports that Mariya read my book from last month, Our Endless Numbered Days by Claire Fuller, and said it was creepy. We missed you Mariya. Matt enjoyed my pick The Saturday Night Ghost Club by Craig Davidson. I’ll be on the lookout for more in the wholesome, nerdy – nostalgia genre. He also read Road of Bones by Christopher Golden, but couldn’t hang in for Night Film. Hugh is still the only one of us to make it through to the end.

If you missed book club last night we missed you! I’m hoping for warmer weather and summer reading. See everyone in July!
