Thanks everyone for coming out last night, despite the hurricane predictions. I’m glad nothing happened here, I hope everyone is doing well. It was another fun night as always, I love to get together with all of you! We’ve been in a little bit of a swapping slump, but I really enjoy the discussion on everyone’s choices for the month. So, here’s what we’ve been reading:
Christiana read Maria’s pick, How Hard Can it Be by Allison Pearson. Also, The Line Between by Tosca Lee, about a doomsday cult and it’s unexpectedly accurate predictions experienced by a member who manages to escape. That sounded really good and unusual!
Ruthann shared two months worth of reading, One Thousand White Women by Jim Fergus, Perfectly You, a memoir by Mariano Atencio and David McCullough’s latest, The Pioneers. She’s also been sharing her love of Colson Whitehead with me the last couple weeks, so I’m going to borrow Nickel Boys for the month.
Shana read the latest of the Stephanie Plum series, Look Alive Twenty-five by Janet Evanovich. She also shared another Megan Miranda mystery, All The Missing Girls which didn’t live up to the last one from the author, The Perfect Stranger.
Ross borrowed Steve-o’s memoir from Matt, Professional Idiot. Despite her initial disgust of Steve-o from his television days she really enjoyed his story. She also recommends The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Steven King.
Maria read another Lorraine Moriarty novel, The Husband’s Secret. I’m excited to hear what Ross thinks of last month’s What Alice Forgot.
Matt read a thriller Ross and I had read, Before She Knew Him, by Peter Swanson. He also brought in I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, One Woman’s Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer by Michelle McNamara. Ross is borrowing it this month.
I had borrowed The Perfect Stranger by Megan Miranda from Shana. I really enjoyed it. Someone is borrowing it this month… maybe Maria? so more on that one next month.
I love the diversity of the books we always share and pass. And truly I enjoy the conversations we all have together. Thank’s again for continuing to come out and make book club so much fun! See you in October!
